Submitting your blog's RSS feed as a sitemap to Google is a great way to let Google know you've published new blog content without manually notifying Google of your new posts.
Follow the steps below to learn how to submit your blog RSS feed as a sitemap to Google using Google Search Console.
STEP 1: VERIFY YOUR DOMAIN
First, you need to verify your website with Google Search Console if you haven't already. To do so, log in to https://search.google.com/search-console and click on ADD A PROPERTY. You'll see the screen below and you'll want to choose URL prefix and enter the https://www. version of your domain name and click continue.
Once you've clicked continue, you'll select the option to add a meta tag to your site's home page and copy the meta tag provided to you from Google Search Console.
You'll go back to your Zibster control panel and access your WEBSITE section and click on TRACKING. You can paste the meta tag that Google provided you with into the HEAD area and then save your changes. This will allow you to go back into your Search Console account and complete the website verification process. Once you've verified your site, you'll see the confirmation message below.
STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR RSS FEED AS A SITEMAP
In the left menu of your Google Search Console dashboard, you can find the SITEMAPS option. You'll see any existing sitemaps you've submitted and their status.
You'll also have the option to add another sitemap. The extension for your blog RSS feed to enter here is blog-rss.
Once you've added the RSS feed extension, you can click the submit button and you'll get a confirmation that the blog RSS feed has been successfully added to the Google Search Console dashboard.
