A favicon is a great way to add more branding to your website. A favicon must be 16x16 pixels and in the .ico file extension. Your favicon is typically a tiny version of your logo, and it appears in the top left corner of your viewers' browser tab, it can also appear in other places such as a bookmark.

This guide will walk you through the steps of creating a favicon file for your website using Adobe Photoshop.

STEP ONE
Open your logo file in Photoshop.
STEP TWO
Crop your logo file to fit into a square.
STEP THREE
Click on the Image drop down option at the top of Photoshop and choose image size from the list of options in the menu that opens.
STEP FOUR
Resize your file to 64 pixels wide by 64 pixels tall and 72 resolution and click on OK to apply your changes.
STEP FIVE
Save your file with the updated size and resolution.
FINAL STEP
You'll want to upload your new favicon file to a favicon converter such as favicon.cc and it will convert your file to a the .ico format. You can download this and use it as the favicon for your website.
