How to Upload and Link to Files in Zibster

Overview

You can upload supported files to your Zibster account using the Documents area inside the Files section of your dashboard. This allows you to store files in your account and use them throughout your website, email marketing, forms, and digital product downloads.

After a file is uploaded, Zibster creates a direct URL for the file. In many areas of Zibster, you can also select the uploaded file from a dropdown menu by choosing File from the Link To option. This guide explains how to upload a file, find its direct URL, and link to it from areas such as Button Blocks, images, List Block items, Text Editor Block links, and digital product downloads.

Supported File Types

You can upload the following file types to the Documents area:

  • JPG
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • GIF
  • TTF
  • OTF
  • WOFF2
  • PDF
  • PSD
  • DOC
  • DOCX
  • XLS
  • XLSX
  • ZIP
  • ICO
  • MP3
  • JS
  • CSS
  • SVG

File Size Limits

Your Zibster Website Package allows files up to 4MB to be uploaded.

If you need to upload larger files, the Original Files premium upgrade allows files up to 50MB to be uploaded to your account.

Common Ways to Use Uploaded Files

Uploaded files can be used in several areas of your Zibster account, including:

• Digital product downloads
• Lead generation forms
• Button Blocks
• Image links
• List Block items
• Text Editor Block links
• Website navigation links
• Blog posts
• Email marketing campaigns
• Client emails
• Third-party tools that accept a direct file URL

This is helpful when you want website visitors, leads, or clients to download a PDF, open a document, listen to an MP3 file, access a ZIP file, or receive a file after completing a purchase.

Before You Upload Your File

Before uploading your file, give it a clear and descriptive file name. This makes it easier to identify later when selecting the file from a dropdown menu inside Zibster.

For example, a file named 2026-wedding-pricing-guide.pdf is easier to find than a file named document.pdf or final-version-2.pdf.

Clear file names are especially helpful when you are linking to files from Button Blocks, images, List Block items, forms, or digital product downloads.

STEP ONE

Log in to your Zibster account and click FILES in the left-side menu.

This opens the Files area, where you can manage images, documents, and other uploaded files in your account.

STEP TWO

Click DOCUMENTS at the top of the page.

The Documents area is where you can upload and manage supported file types that are not part of your regular image library.

STEP THREE

Upload your file by dragging it into the upload area or by clicking the upload area to browse your computer.

Once you select the file, Zibster will upload it to your account. The upload time may vary depending on the file size and your internet connection.

FINAL STEP

After the file uploads, it will appear in your File Library.

You will see the file name, file type, and a direct URL for the file. You can click the URL to open the file in your browser, or right-click the URL and copy it.

Once the file is uploaded, you can either copy the direct URL or select the file from supported File dropdown menus inside Zibster. When someone clicks the linked file, the file will open or download depending on the file type and the visitor’s browser settings.

Using the Direct File URL

Zibster creates a direct URL for each uploaded document. You can copy this URL from the Documents area and paste it anywhere a URL is accepted.

This is useful when linking to a file from:

• Email marketing campaigns
• Blog posts
• Client emails
• Third-party tools
• Areas where the File dropdown is not available

Before sharing the URL, open it in a new browser tab to confirm the file loads correctly.

Linking to an Uploaded File from a Button, Image, or List Item

In many areas of the Zibster Website Builder, you can link directly to an uploaded file without copying and pasting the file URL.

When editing a link for a Button Block, image, List Block item, or another supported website element, choose File from the Link To option. Zibster will display a dropdown list of files uploaded to the Documents area.

Select the file you want to link. This connects the website element directly to the uploaded file.

This option is especially helpful when adding downloadable pricing guides, PDFs, forms, media files, or ZIP files to your website.

Using Uploaded Files for Digital Product Downloads

Uploaded files can also be used for digital product downloads.

If you sell or provide a digital product through Zibster, upload the file to the Documents area first. Then, when setting up the digital product download, choose the uploaded file from the available file options.

Using a clear file name before uploading is especially important for digital downloads because it helps you select the correct file during setup.

Additional Options and Helpful Notes

If you are linking to a PDF from your website, a Button Block is often the easiest option. You can add button text such as View Pricing Guide, Download Form, or Listen to Audio, then connect the button to your uploaded file.

You can also highlight text inside a Text Editor Block and link that text directly to the uploaded file. This works well when you want to link to a file within a paragraph of text.

If you replace a file with an updated version, upload the new file and update any links that should point to the new version. Uploading a new file does not automatically update links that were connected to the previous file.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

My file will not upload

Check the file type and file size. Make sure the file format is supported and that the file is within your account’s upload limit.

If the file type is not supported, you may be able to place the file inside a ZIP file and upload the ZIP file to the Documents area.

My file is larger than 4MB

Files larger than 4MB require the Original Files premium upgrade. With Original Files, you can upload files up to 50MB.

I cannot find my file in the dropdown menu

Make sure the file was uploaded to the Documents area under Files. Also check the file name. If the file has a generic name, it may be harder to identify in the dropdown list.

The file opens instead of downloading

Some file types, such as PDFs and images, may open directly in the visitor’s browser instead of downloading automatically. This behavior depends on the visitor’s browser and device settings.

I copied the file URL, but the link does not work

Make sure the full URL was copied. Open the link in a new browser tab to confirm the file loads correctly before adding it to your website, email, or blog post.

I uploaded a new version of the file, but the old file is still linked

Uploading a new file does not automatically update links that were connected to a previous file. Select the new file from the File dropdown or copy and paste the new direct URL where the file is linked.
