How to Add a Marketing Email Opt-In to Forms, Scheduler, and Checkout
Overview
Zibster allows visitors and customers to choose whether they want to receive marketing emails from your business. You can add an optional marketing email opt-in checkbox to supported forms, Scheduler services, and checkout pages.
The same custom checkbox label is used throughout your account. This guide explains how to activate the marketing email opt-in, choose clear wording, and review a contact’s response.
Important to Know
The marketing email opt-in checkbox is optional and is not selected automatically. A visitor or customer must select the checkbox to subscribe through that interaction.
Activating the checkbox does not automatically subscribe your existing contacts. Your Zibster account includes marketing email sends each month.
STEP ONE
Log in to your Zibster account and click MY ACCOUNT in the left-side menu.
This opens the account settings where you can manage your membership, account details, policies, and other account-wide options.
STEP TWO
Hover over SETTINGS at the top of the control panel, and then click POLICY SETTINGS.
The Policy Settings page includes account-wide settings that can appear when visitors submit information through forms, Scheduler services, and supported checkout pages.
FINAL STEP
Scroll down to MARKETING EMAILS OPT-IN. Enter the message you want visitors and customers to see in the CHECKBOX LABEL field.
For example:
Yes, I would like to receive studio news, promotions, and special offers by email.
Click SAVE CHANGES. Your custom label will appear next to the optional marketing email checkbox in supported areas of your Zibster account.
Where the Marketing Email Opt-In Appears
After you save a checkbox label, the marketing email opt-in can appear when contact information is collected through:
- Forms
- Scheduler services
- ECommerce and other supported checkout pages
The exact placement of the checkbox depends on where the visitor or customer enters or submits their information.
Form Opt-In Example
On a form, the checkbox gives visitors the option to subscribe when they enter their information and submit the form.
Scheduler and Checkout Opt-In
The checkbox can also appear when customers schedule services or complete a supported checkout process. This allows customers to subscribe while interacting with your business.
How to Confirm a Contact’s Opt-In Status
You can review a contact’s marketing email status from their contact profile in your Zibster control panel. When a contact opts in, the profile can show that the person subscribed and the date the response was recorded.
If the contact shows NO ANSWER, Zibster has not recorded an opt-in response from that person. This may mean:
- The marketing email opt-in was not active when the contact’s information was collected.
- The contact has not submitted information through a supported form, Scheduler service, or checkout page since you activated the opt-in.
- The contact did not select the optional checkbox.
A contact who does not select the checkbox is not subscribed through that interaction.
Choosing Your Checkbox Label
The same checkbox label is used throughout the supported areas of your account. Choose wording that makes sense on forms, Scheduler services, and checkout pages.
Clearly describe the types of emails subscribers can expect. Your label may mention:
- Newsletters
- Business updates
- Service announcements
- Promotions
- Special offers
- Upcoming events
Examples of clear opt-in labels include:
- Yes, I would like to receive business news and special offers by email.
- Send me updates about services, promotions, and events.
- I would like to receive newsletters and marketing emails.
- Keep me updated about new services and special offers.
Avoid wording that makes the checkbox appear required. Visitors and customers should understand that subscribing to marketing emails is their choice.
Marketing Email Opt-In and GDPR Policy Checkboxes
The MARKETING EMAILS OPT-IN and GDPR POLICY CHECKBOX LABEL settings appear on the same Policy Settings page, but they serve different purposes.
The marketing email opt-in is optional and allows someone to choose whether they want to receive promotional or marketing emails.
The GDPR policy checkbox can require someone to agree to your privacy policy before submitting their information.
Depending on your account settings, visitors may see both checkboxes. Use different, descriptive wording so visitors understand the purpose of each one.
Additional Options and Helpful Notes
The marketing email opt-in is an account-wide setting. Use wording that applies across every supported area instead of referring to one specific form, product, service, or purchase.
A visitor must provide an email address before they can become a usable marketing email subscriber.
Activating the checkbox does not change the marketing email status of contacts already stored in your account.
Your business is responsible for ensuring its opt-in wording and email marketing practices comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
