How to Set Up a 301 Redirect in Zibster
Overview
A 301 redirect automatically sends visitors from an old page URL to a new destination on your website. This is especially useful when you rename a page, remove content, or reorganize your site structure.
Using redirects helps prevent broken links and ensures visitors always land on the correct page. It also helps search engines understand that your content has permanently moved.
This guide walks you through how to create and manage 301 redirects inside the Zibster Website Builder.
When You Might Use a Redirect
You may want to create a redirect if you:
- Change the URL of a page
- Delete a page but want visitors to land somewhere else
- Move content to a different page
- Replace an outdated page with new content
- Update a page linked in QR codes, emails, or social media
Redirects help ensure your visitors never encounter a broken link.
STEP ONE
Log into your Zibster account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.
This will open the Website Builder.
STEP TWO
At the top center of the Website Builder, click SETTINGS.
This area contains advanced configuration options for your website.
STEP THREE
Click the NEW REDIRECT button.
This will open the redirect setup panel.
STEP FOUR
Enter the details for your redirect.
In the Original URL field, enter the old URL that visitors may still be using.
Next, choose the destination in the Redirect To dropdown menu.
You can redirect visitors to several types of destinations, including:
- External Link (a page outside your website)
- Page (another page on your website)
- Form (a form created in your account)
- File (a document stored in your Documents section)
After selecting your destination, click SAVE.
⚠️ Important Note
If you’re redirecting an old page to a new one, make sure the old page is either deleted or disabled in your Website Builder. This ensures the 301 redirect works correctly and avoids conflicts.
Once you’ve added a redirect, it will appear in a list in this section for easy editing or removal later.
