What Image Size Should I Upload to Zibster?
Overview
You do not need to resize your images to exact pixel dimensions before uploading them to Zibster. Zibster automatically optimizes images for website and Mood Board display to help them load quickly. Standard uploads support files up to 4 MB each, or up to 50 MB each with the Original Files upgrade. This guide explains how images are resized, how layouts affect cropping, and which files clients receive when downloading from Mood Boards.
For Your Website
Zibster automatically resizes uploaded images proportionally to a maximum width of 3000 pixels or a maximum height of 1730 pixels, depending on the image’s original proportions.
You do not need to make every image exactly 3000 × 1730 pixels. Your selected layout determines whether visitors see the full image or a cropped version.
Square, Landscape, Portrait, Circle, and Collage Layouts
These layouts fit images into specific shapes, so portions of an image may be cropped from view.
Choose images with extra space around important details, such as faces, text, and logos, to help keep those details visible.
Pinboard and Stackable Layouts
These layouts display the full image without cropping it to fit a fixed shape.
Choose one of these layouts when you want visitors to see the entire image.
Banner Layouts
Standard banner layouts fill the available banner area. The amount of the image visible can change depending on the visitor’s screen size and browser window.
There is no single image size that guarantees the same framing on every device. Choose images with extra space around the main subject and review how your banners appear on desktop and mobile screens.
No Crop Banner Layouts
No Crop banner layouts display the entire image without cropping it to fill the banner area.
Depending on the image’s proportions and the visitor’s screen size, empty space may appear around the image. The amount of empty space can vary between devices.
For help choosing a banner layout and adjusting its settings, see How to Use Banner Blocks in Zibster.
For Mood Boards
Zibster automatically optimizes Mood Board images for display using the same resizing limits: a maximum width of 3000 pixels or a maximum height of 1730 pixels, depending on the image’s original proportions.
If you enable free downloads, your Mood Board’s download settings determine which resolution clients receive.
Web and High-Resolution Downloads
Zibster automatically creates the image sizes used for web and high-resolution downloads. You do not need to upload a separate version for each resolution.
These downloads use optimized image versions. A high-resolution download is not necessarily the original uploaded file.
For instructions, see How to Allow Viewers to Download Images from Mood Boards.
Original-Resolution Downloads
If you want clients to download images at their original uploaded resolution, activate the Original Files upgrade before uploading them.
This upgrade preserves the original image file in addition to the optimized display version and supports files up to 50 MB each. To offer those files to clients, select the original-resolution option in your Mood Board’s download settings. Your account’s file storage allowance still applies.
Images uploaded before you activate Original Files must be uploaded again to make their original-resolution versions available.
Having Trouble Uploading?
Check the image’s file size first. Pixel dimensions describe an image’s width and height, while megabytes (MB) describe its file size. An image must stay within your account’s upload limit even though Zibster automatically resizes it for display.
