Why Sales Tax Is Not Appearing on Your Invoice
If sales tax is not showing on an invoice in Zibster, it is usually caused by missing sales tax settings or incomplete contact address information. Sales tax calculations depend on both your Sales Tax configuration and the location details of the contact receiving the invoice.
This article explains the most common reasons sales tax does not appear on an invoice and walks you through how to correct them so your invoices calculate tax correctly.
STEP ONE
Confirm Your Sales Tax Settings Are Set Up
Log into your Zibster account and click PAYMENTS in the left-side menu.
At the top of the Payments control panel, click SETTINGS, then select SALES TAX.
If no sales tax rules are listed, sales tax cannot be applied to invoices. You will need to add at least one sales tax rule before tax can appear.
If you have not completed this setup yet, refer to How to Add a Sales Tax Line.
STEP TWO
Open Invoices
Click QUOTES & INVOICES in the left-side menu to access your invoicing tools.
STEP THREE
Open the Invoices Section
Click INVOICES at the top of the Quotes & Invoices panel.
STEP FOUR
Open Your Invoice
Click the existing invoice number where sales tax is missing. This opens the invoice editor where tax calculations are applied.
STEP FIVE
Check the Contact’s Address Information
Sales tax is calculated based on the contact’s location details required by your Sales Tax settings.
A full billing address is not always required for tax calculation, but some payment processors require complete address information in order to process payments successfully.
If required location fields are missing, sales tax will not calculate or display on the invoice.
Open the contact record linked to the invoice and confirm the following fields are completed:
-
Country
-
State
-
County (only if your sales tax rule is set up by county)
A full Billing Address is strongly recommended to avoid payment processing issues.
Save the contact record once the information is complete.
FINAL STEP
Refresh the Invoice
Return to the invoice and refresh the page. Sales tax should now calculate automatically and display correctly on the invoice.
