How to Upgrade Your Zibster Name Servers to Amazon Route 53
Overview
Zibster has upgraded its Domain Name System, or DNS, to Amazon Route 53. Amazon Route 53 is a reliable DNS service that manages how your domain connects to your website, email, and other online services.
This guide explains how to generate new Amazon Route 53 name servers inside your Zibster account and update them with your domain registrar. After the update is complete, your domain will use Amazon Route 53 name servers, and you will be able to manage supported DNS records directly inside Zibster.
If your domain currently uses Zibster legacy Rackspace name servers, you can upgrade to Amazon Route 53 at no additional cost. Upgrading from Zibster Rackspace name servers to Amazon Route 53 does not cause downtime because your existing DNS records are moved before you update the name servers.
Why Upgrade to Amazon Route 53?
Upgrading to Amazon Route 53 moves your domain to the current Zibster DNS system. This provides improved DNS reliability and allows you to manage supported DNS records directly inside your Zibster account after the name server update has finished propagating.
You can manage supported records such as:
• A Records
• CNAME Records
• MX Records
• TXT Records
These records may be used to connect your website, configure email, verify your domain with a third-party service, or manage other domain-related settings.
If your domain remains on Zibster legacy Rackspace name servers, DNS changes must be submitted to the Zibster Support Team through a support ticket. Upgrading to Amazon Route 53 allows you to make many supported DNS changes yourself from your Zibster control panel.
Not Sure Where Your Domain Is Registered?
You can use a WHOIS lookup to help identify your domain registrar.
Go to: https://www.misk.com/tools/#whois
Enter your domain name, such as yourdomain.com, and click WHOIS.
In the results, look for the Registrar or Reseller information. The registrar is usually the company where your domain is registered. A reseller may identify another company that manages the registration.
You will need to log in to the appropriate registrar account to update the domain’s name servers.
STEP ONE
Log in to your Zibster account and click DOMAINS in the left-side menu.
This opens the Domains section, where you can view and manage the domain names connected to your Zibster account.
STEP TWO
If your domain is not already using Amazon Route 53 name servers, a notification will appear in the Domains section.
STEP THREE
Select the checkbox labeled Yes, move my DNS records to Route 53.
Zibster will generate four Amazon Route 53 name servers for your domain. These name servers are unique to your domain and must be entered exactly as they appear.
Keep this screen open or copy the four name servers so you can enter them in your domain registrar account.
FINAL STEP
Log in to the account where your domain is registered.
Locate the section where your registrar allows you to manage name servers. Depending on the registrar, this section may be called Name Servers, DNS Settings, Domain Settings, Custom Name Servers, or something similar.
Replace the current name servers with the four Amazon Route 53 name servers displayed in your Zibster account. Save the changes inside your registrar account when you are finished.
DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to fully propagate, although many updates are completed sooner.
Your website and connected services will continue working during an upgrade from Zibster legacy Rackspace name servers because the existing DNS records are moved to Amazon Route 53 before you change the name servers.
After propagation is complete, your domain will use Amazon Route 53 name servers. You will then be able to manage supported DNS records directly inside your Zibster account.

Additional Options and Helpful Notes
Domains Using Zibster Legacy Rackspace Name Servers
If your domain currently uses Zibster legacy Rackspace name servers, the existing DNS records are moved to Amazon Route 53 during the upgrade process.
This allows your website, email, and other properly configured services to continue working without downtime while the name server change propagates.
Domains Using Third-Party Name Servers
If your domain uses third-party name servers from a provider such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Namecheap, your DNS records are currently managed outside of Zibster.
You can continue using your current name servers and manage DNS through that provider, or you can change the name servers to the Amazon Route 53 name servers generated in your Zibster account.
Before switching from third-party name servers, make sure all required DNS records are available in Zibster. Records managed by the third-party provider are not automatically transferred to Zibster.
Custom Email Services
If you use Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or another custom email provider, confirm that all required email DNS records are present before changing from third-party name servers.
These records may include:
• MX records
• SPF records
• DKIM records
• DMARC records
• Email verification records
Missing or incorrect email records may interrupt your ability to send or receive email.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
I do not see the option to move my DNS records to Route 53. What should I do?
Your domain may already be using Amazon Route 53 name servers, or its current configuration may require assistance from the Zibster Support Team.
Contact Zibster Support before changing your name servers if you are unsure about the domain’s current DNS configuration.
Will my website go down when upgrading from Zibster Rackspace name servers?
No. Domains upgrading from Zibster legacy Rackspace name servers to Amazon Route 53 will not experience downtime during the change.
Zibster moves the existing DNS records to Amazon Route 53 before you update the name servers at your registrar. This allows the domain to continue pointing to the correct website and services while the update propagates.
When can I manage my own DNS records in Zibster?
You can manage supported DNS records inside Zibster after you update the name servers at your registrar and the change finishes propagating.
Propagation can take up to 24 hours, although it may finish sooner.
What if my domain uses third-party name servers?
You can keep your current name servers and continue managing DNS through the third-party provider, or you can change them to the Amazon Route 53 name servers generated in your Zibster account.
Before switching, make sure all DNS records required by your email provider and other third-party services have been added in Zibster.

Name servers usually must be updated inside the account where the domain is registered. If Zibster does not manage your domain registration, you will need access to your registrar account to complete the change.
What happens if I enter the wrong name servers?
Incorrect name servers may prevent your website, email, or other domain services from working.
Copy and paste all four Amazon Route 53 name servers exactly as they appear in your Zibster account. Do not enter name servers generated for a different domain.
