Why Isn’t My Small Business Website Showing Up on Google?
If your small business website is not appearing in Google search results, it does not necessarily mean something is broken.
Zibster websites are built with search engine best practices already in place. When a site does not appear in Google, the cause is typically related to indexing, content quality, SEO setup, or timing — not the platform itself.
This guide walks you through the most common reasons your Zibster website may not appear in search results and how to troubleshoot each one.
STEP ONE
Check if Your Website Is Indexed by Google
Go to Google and search:
site:yourdomain.com
(Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.)
This search shows the pages Google has indexed for your website.
- If results appear: Google has indexed part (or all) of your website.
- If no results appear: Your website or specific pages may not be indexed yet.
If only your homepage appears, Google may still be processing the rest of your pages.
STEP TWO
Verify Your Domain in Google Search Console
Google Search Console allows you to confirm that Google can properly crawl and index your website.
Log into Google Search Console and verify your website using the Domain property option.
If your DNS is managed inside your Zibster account, verification is completed by adding a TXT record to your domain’s DNS settings.
Once verified:
Open the Page Indexing report.
Review whether pages are:
- Indexed
- Crawled but not indexed
- Excluded due to an error
- Blocked by a setting
If your domain is not verified, Google cannot provide accurate indexing data.
STEP THREE
Review and Customize Your SEO Settings in the Website Builder
Zibster pages allow you to customize your SEO settings, including Meta Titles, Meta Descriptions, and Friendly URLs.
To review your settings:
Log into your Zibster account.
Open your Website Builder.
Click on the page you want to appear in search results.
Open the page’s SEO settings.
Confirm that the page:
- Has a clear, descriptive Meta Title
- Includes a compelling Meta Description
- Uses a short, descriptive Friendly URL
- Is published and visible
For stronger results, include:
- Your service type
- Your city or service area
- Clear language describing who the page is for
For example:
“Plumbing Services in Charlotte, NC”
“Wedding Venue in Austin, Texas”
After making updates, click Save and republish your website if needed.
STEP FOUR
Make Sure Your Content Is Strong and Specific
Google prioritizes helpful, original, and detailed content.
Pages may struggle to rank if they:
- Contain very little text
- Repeat the same content across multiple pages
- Do not clearly describe services or location
- Use generic wording without specifics
Each page should clearly explain:
- What services or products you offer
- Where you provide services
- Who your ideal customer is
- What makes your business unique
Use blocks such as:
- Text Editor Block
- Text + Image Block
- FAQ Block
- Services Block
to expand and clarify your content inside the Website Builder.
The more specific and location-focused your content is, the easier it is for Google to understand and rank your website.
STEP FIVE
Confirm Your Website Is Published
If your website or specific pages are not published, Google cannot index them.
Inside the Website Builder:
- Make sure each page is set to visible
- Confirm your website is published
Unpublished or hidden pages will not appear in search results.
FINAL STEP
Allow Time for Google to Process Changes
SEO updates are not instant.
After publishing new content or updating SEO settings, it can take several weeks for Google to:
- Re-crawl your website
- Re-index updated pages
- Adjust search rankings
New domains typically take longer to gain visibility.
Continue adding helpful content and avoid making frequent major structural changes while Google processes updates.
Why Zibster Websites Are Built for Search Engines
Every Zibster website includes:
- Clean, crawlable code structure
- Mobile-responsive design (optimized for mobile-first indexing)
- Secure HTTPS encryption
- Built-in XML sitemap
- Customizable meta titles and descriptions
- Search-friendly URL structure
- Image optimization tools and alt text
- Optimized hosting performance
The technical SEO foundation is already built into your Zibster website.
If your site is not appearing in search results, the issue is almost always related to indexing status, content quality, domain verification, visibility settings, or time, not the Zibster platform.
Additional Helpful Notes
- Paid ads do not improve organic rankings.
- Submitting your sitemap in Google Search Console can help Google discover pages faster.
- Consistent content updates improve long-term visibility.
