How to Create a Coupon in Zibster ECommerce
Overview
Zibster ECommerce lets you create coupon codes for percentage discounts, dollar discounts, free shipping, and Buy One Get One promotions. Coupons can be used with Products, Services, and Scheduler Services configured for booking and payment.
You can create coupons for an entire qualifying order, individual items, groups of items, or purchases that meet specific requirements. This guide explains where to create coupons in Zibster, the available coupon types, and how customers redeem a coupon during checkout.

Where Coupons Can Be Used
Coupons can be redeemed during Zibster ECommerce checkout for:
- Products
- Services
- Scheduler Services configured for booking and payment
Scheduler Services can be configured for booking only or for booking and payment. A coupon can only be used when the Scheduler Service collects payment and the customer goes through checkout.
Coupons cannot be applied to:
- Invoices
- Form Payments
Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.
STEP ONE
Log in to your Zibster account and click ECOMMERCE in the left-side menu.
This opens the ECommerce Dashboard, where you can manage Products, Services, orders, payment settings, coupons, and other ECommerce features.
STEP TWO
Mouse over PAYMENT at the top of the ECommerce Dashboard, then click COUPONS from the drop-down menu.
This opens the Coupons area where you can create and manage coupon codes.
STEP THREE
Click NEW COUPON.
Zibster displays the available coupon types organized into Percentage Discounts, Dollar Discounts, and Buy One Get One promotions.
FINAL STEP
Click the coupon type you want to create, then click CONTINUE at the bottom of the screen.
The settings and additional setup options that appear depend on the coupon type you select.
Choosing the Right Coupon
Percentage Discounts
Use a Percentage Discount when you want to reduce a qualifying order or item by a percentage.
Available Percentage Discount coupons include:
- % Off Total Order
- % Off Single Item
- % Off Group of Items
Percentage coupons can apply to an entire qualifying order, one qualifying item, or multiple qualifying items. Depending on the coupon type, you may also be able to set order-price, quantity, category, or item requirements.
When entering a percentage Discount Amount, enter the whole number. For example, enter 7 for a 7% discount, not .07.
Dollar Discounts
Use a Dollar Discount when you want to subtract a fixed dollar amount from a qualifying purchase or offer free shipping.
Available Dollar Discount coupons include:
- $ Off Total Order
- $ Off Single Item
- $ Off Group of Items
- Free Shipping
Depending on the coupon type, you can apply the discount to an entire qualifying order, specific items, groups of items, or selected shipping methods.
Buy One Get One Coupons
Use a Buy One Get One coupon when purchasing a qualifying item should unlock a discount or free qualifying item.
Available Buy One Get One coupons include:
- Buy One, Get One % Off
- Buy One, Get One $ Off
- Buy One, Get One Free
Buy One Get One coupons use a two-part item-selection process. You choose what the customer must purchase to qualify and separately choose which qualifying item receives the discount or becomes free.
Choosing the Right Coupon
Choose % Off Total Order or $ Off Total Order when you want the promotion to apply to an entire qualifying order.
Choose % Off Single Item or $ Off Single Item when you want one qualifying item to receive the discount.
Choose % Off Group of Items or $ Off Group of Items when the promotion should apply to multiple qualifying items.
Choose Free Shipping when you want to remove qualifying shipping charges. You can select which available shipping methods qualify when configuring the coupon.
Choose a Buy One Get One coupon when purchasing a qualifying item should provide a percentage discount, dollar discount, or free qualifying item.
What Your Customer Sees
When a customer adds an eligible Product or Service to their cart, the cart displays a Coupon field before checkout.
The customer enters the coupon code in the Coupon field, then clicks APPLY.
If the coupon is valid and the order meets the requirements you configured, Zibster applies the discount and updates the order total. The customer can then click CHECKOUT to continue with the purchase.
For Scheduler Services, the coupon option is only available when the service is configured for booking and payment. Scheduler Services configured for booking only do not go through checkout, so a coupon cannot be applied.
Only one coupon code can be applied to an order.
Helpful Notes
Coupon eligibility is based on the settings you configure when creating the coupon. If a coupon does not apply, review the coupon's dates, usage limits, qualifying order requirements, selected items, and Discount Code.
Coupons require customers to enter a code during checkout. If you want a discount to apply automatically, use a Sale Campaign.
Zibster Mood Boards do not support ECommerce, so coupons cannot be used for prints or digital image sales through Mood Boards.
Invoices and Form Payments do not support coupon codes.
Troubleshooting Coupons
If a coupon is not working during checkout, confirm that:
- The Discount Code was entered correctly.
- The current date falls between the coupon's Begin Date and Expiration Date.
- The coupon has not reached its Max Number of Uses.
- The order meets any configured Min Order Price or Max Order Price requirements.
- The Products or Services in the order are included in the coupon's qualifying items.
- The customer is completing an eligible ECommerce checkout.
- A Scheduler Service is configured for booking and payment rather than booking only.
- Another coupon code has not already been applied to the order.
