Fixing 404 Errors with Redirects in Zibster

Sometimes, Google Search Console shows a "Not Found (404)" error when a page on your website no longer exists — like if you renamed a page or changed its friendly URL. Luckily, Zibster makes it easy to fix this with a 301 redirect.

A 301 redirect tells search engines and browsers, “This page has moved — here’s where to go now.” It automatically sends your visitors to the correct page and helps preserve any SEO value from the old URL.

Follow the steps below to fix those 404s using redirects in your Zibster website.

STEP ONE

Log into your Google Search Console and click the PAGES tab in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Scroll down to the “Why pages aren’t indexed” section and select "Not Found (404)".

STEP THREE

You’ll now see a list of broken URLs. Click on a link to view the exact URL you need to redirect.

STEP FOUR

In a new browser tab, log into your Zibster account and click WEBSITE from the left-side menu.

STEP FIVE

At the top of the Website panel, click SETTINGS.

STEP SIX

From the settings menu, select Redirects.

STEP SEVEN

The Redirects panel will open on the right. You’ll need to:

  • ORIGINAL URL: Paste the broken link from Google Search Console (only include the part after your domain, like /old-page).
  • REDIRECT TO: Choose where to send visitors. You can redirect to:

    • A page on your Zibster website

    • An external link

    • A form

    • An email campaign

    • A file

Once you’ve made your selections, click Create Redirect.

All your active redirects will be listed below for easy management.

Any 301 redirects you've set up will be visible in this section similar to the screen shot below.

FINAL STEP

Head back to Google Search Console and click Validate Fix to let Google know you’ve resolved the issue.

PRO TIP!
It may take Google a few days (or even a few weeks) to update the status of your fix — that’s totally normal! As long as your redirect is in place, visitors who click the old link will now land on the correct page.
