How to Fix Zibster Website Display Problems

Overview

If a Zibster website looks incomplete, displays outdated content, has a broken layout, or does not work as expected, the issue may be related to the visitor’s browser, device, or internet connection. Stored website data, outdated browser software, browser extensions, privacy settings, and network tools can affect how a website loads.

This guide explains how to reset browser zoom, refresh the website, clear stored browser data, and determine whether the problem affects one visitor or the website itself. It also covers mobile display differences, embedded content, HTTP Status 500 errors, Page Not Found messages, and domain or SSL errors.

Zibster websites support most current versions of modern browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

Before You Begin

Check whether the problem affects one visitor or multiple people.

If the website displays correctly in another current browser, on another device, or through another internet connection, the problem is likely associated with the original browser, device, or network.

If the same problem appears across multiple current browsers, devices, and internet connections, the website owner should contact Zibster Support.

STEP ONE

Open the affected website page and reset your browser zoom to 100%.

Press Ctrl + 0 on Windows or Command + 0 on a Mac. You can also open your browser menu, locate the zoom controls, and set the zoom level to 100%.

Refresh the page after resetting the zoom. To perform a hard refresh, use the appropriate keyboard shortcut:

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + R
  • Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox on Mac: Press Command + Shift + R
  • Apple Safari on Mac: Press Option + Command + R

Resetting the zoom corrects display problems caused by an enlarged or reduced page view. A hard refresh reloads the website without using the version currently stored in the browser’s cache.

If the website still does not display correctly, continue to the next step.

STEP TWO

Open your browser settings and check for available updates. Install any available updates, then completely close and reopen the browser so the update can finish.

Outdated browsers may not correctly load a website’s layout, fonts, images, animations, menus, forms, or other interactive features.

If your browser is current and the problem continues, proceed to the next step.

STEP THREE

Open your browser settings and locate the option to clear browsing data, browsing history, cookies, or website data. The exact name and location of this setting will depend on the browser you use.

If your browser allows you to remove data for an individual website, search for the affected domain and clear its stored cookies and website data. Otherwise, select ALL TIME or the equivalent option for the time range, then clear cookies and other site data and cached images and files.

You do not need to clear saved passwords, passkeys, payment information, or autofill data. Leave those options unselected unless you also want to remove that information from your browser.

Clearing cookies and website data may sign you out of websites you use in that browser.

FINAL STEP

Completely close all open browser windows after clearing the stored website data. Reopen the browser and return to the affected website page.

Confirm that the current page content loads and that the website’s text, images, menus, forms, buttons, and other features display and work correctly.

If the problem continues, use the troubleshooting sections below to determine whether the issue is limited to a specific browser, device, network, or website feature.

Browser Help Resources

Use the official help guide for your browser if you need assistance installing updates or clearing browsing data:

  • Google Chrome: Update Google Chrome or Delete Browsing Data in Chrome
  • Apple Safari: Update to the Latest Version of Safari or Clear Your Browsing History in Safari on Mac
  • Mozilla Firefox: Update Firefox to the Latest Release or Clear Cookies and Site Data in Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge: Microsoft Edge Update Settings or View and Delete Browser History in Microsoft Edge

Additional Browser Troubleshooting

Open the Website in a Private Browser Window

Open the website in an incognito or private browsing window. Private browsing limits the use of existing cookies and cached website data.

If the website displays correctly in a private window, the problem is likely associated with stored browsing data or a browser extension in your regular browser window.

Test Another Browser

Open the same page in another current browser. For example, if the problem occurs in Safari, test the website in Google Chrome.

If the website displays correctly in the second browser, the issue is likely limited to the settings, stored data, or extensions in the original browser.

Open the Website in a Full Browser

If you opened the website through Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, or another app, open the link directly in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

The browser built into an app may use its own stored website data and may not support every website feature.

Temporarily Disable Browser Extensions

Ad blockers, privacy extensions, security tools, translation tools, and other browser extensions can prevent website content or scripts from loading correctly.

Temporarily disable your browser extensions and reload the website. If this resolves the problem, enable the extensions again one at a time to identify which one is causing the conflict.

Check Privacy and Security Tools

A VPN, content blocker, private relay, tracking protection feature, firewall, or network security tool may prevent cookies, scripts, fonts, forms, videos, or other website content from loading.

Temporarily disable the tool and reload the page. If the website begins working, review the tool’s settings before enabling it again.

You should not need to permanently disable your browser or device’s security features to view a Zibster website.

Try Another Device

Open the website on another computer, tablet, or mobile device. If the website displays correctly there, the problem is likely associated with the original device or its browser settings.

Testing another device can also help determine whether you are seeing an expected responsive layout change.

Try Another Internet Connection

Security settings, content filters, firewalls, and network-level ad blockers can prevent parts of a website from loading.

If possible, test the website using another internet connection. For example, disconnect a mobile device from Wi-Fi and try opening the website using its cellular connection.

If the website works through another connection, the original network or its security settings may be blocking part of the website.

If Recent Website Changes Do Not Appear

Zibster automatically applies saved Website Builder changes to your live website. There is no separate publish button.

If you recently changed text, images, colors, fonts, or another website setting but still see the previous version, perform a hard refresh and clear the cached images and files stored by your browser.

You can also open the page in a private browser window or on another device to confirm whether the current version appears there.

Check whether the problem affects one page or the entire website. If only one page is affected, save its complete URL so you can provide it to Zibster Support if additional assistance is needed.

If the Website Looks Different on Mobile

Zibster websites use responsive design. The website automatically adjusts its layout based on the size and orientation of the visitor’s screen.

On smaller screens, you may notice that:

  • Navigation options are condensed into a mobile menu.
  • Blocks and columns stack vertically.
  • Images display at different sizes or crops.
  • Text wraps onto additional lines.
  • Spacing adjusts to fit the available screen width.

These changes are expected and do not necessarily indicate a display problem.

Rotate the device between portrait and landscape orientation and refresh the page. If content overlaps, disappears, or remains unusable after testing another current browser, contact Zibster Support.

Check the Banner Block Mobile Images

Banner Blocks can use separate images for mobile devices. Changing an image under the IMAGES tab does not automatically change an image selected under MOBILE IMAGES.

If a Banner Block displays an older or unexpected image on mobile, open the Banner Block and review its MOBILE IMAGES settings. See How Do I Adjust the Banner Block for Mobile Users? for complete instructions.

If an Embedded Feature Does Not Load

Forms, videos, maps, scheduling tools, social media feeds, and other embedded content may be provided by another service. Browser privacy settings, blocked cookies, extensions, or a problem with the third-party service can prevent embedded content from loading even when the rest of the Zibster website works correctly.

Test the page in another current browser and temporarily disable browser extensions, privacy tools, or content blockers.

If the rest of the website loads but only the embedded feature remains affected, confirm that the third-party service is available and that the embed code added to the Zibster website is current.

If You See an HTTP Status 500 or Cookie Error

An HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error message means the website could not complete the request. Some 500 errors require assistance from Zibster Support, but others may be caused by invalid or outdated cookie data stored in the visitor’s browser.

For example, an error may include the following message:

Cookie name "Domain" is a reserved token

If the error appears in only one browser or on one device, clear all cookies and website data stored for the affected website. Completely close the browser, reopen it, and try loading the website again.

You can also open the website in a private or incognito browser window. If the website loads there, the error is likely associated with cookies or other website data stored in the regular browser.

Test the website in another current browser or on another device when possible. If it works elsewhere, clear the browsing data from the browser showing the error.

Contact Zibster Support if the error continues after clearing the browser data or if it appears across multiple browsers, devices, and internet connections.

Domain, SSL, or Website Availability Errors

Browser troubleshooting may not resolve errors related to the website’s domain, DNS settings, or SSL certificate.

These errors may include:

  • The browser reports that the website cannot be reached.
  • The domain opens the wrong website.
  • The browser displays a warning that the connection is not private or secure.
  • The website stops loading after a domain or DNS change.
  • The website works at one address but not another version of the domain.

Domain and DNS changes can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 48 hours to propagate.

If the website owner recently launched the website or changed its domain settings, allow time for propagation to finish. If no recent domain changes were made, contact Zibster Support so we can review the domain connection and SSL certificate.

If You See a Page Not Found Message

A Page Not Found or 404 message means the web address does not lead to an active page. The page may have been deleted, disabled, renamed, or moved to a different URL.

Check the address for typing errors and use the website’s navigation menu to locate the page. If you followed a link from another website, bookmark, email, or search result, the link may be outdated.

Website owners should confirm that the page is enabled and review any links that should lead to it. If the page moved to a new URL, create a 301 redirect to send visitors and search engines from the previous URL to the new page.

Clearing browser data will not normally resolve a Page Not Found message.

If the page moved to a new URL, create a 301 redirect to send visitors and search engines from the previous URL to the new page. See How to Create 301 Redirects With Zibster for complete instructions.

If the Problem Affects Multiple Visitors

If the same problem appears in multiple current browsers, on multiple devices, and through different internet connections, it may not be a local browser issue.

The website owner should log into the Zibster control panel and review the affected page, block, image, or website setting. If the content appears correct in the control panel but displays incorrectly for multiple visitors, contact Zibster Support.

Check whether the problem affects one page, several pages, or the entire website. When contacting Support, provide the complete URL for each affected page.

Safari Users

Safari updates are included with macOS and iOS updates. They are not installed separately through the Safari browser.

Install the latest operating system version supported by your Mac, iPhone, or iPad to receive available Safari updates.

If your device cannot install a newer version of Safari or the problem continues after updating and clearing the website data, try opening the website in the latest version of Google Chrome.
