How to Add a Discount to a Quote in Zibster

Zibster includes Quotes & Invoicing, which allows you to create professional quotes and invoices for your clients. If you need to offer a discount before sending a quote, you can do so by adding a negative line item.

This guide walks you through how to apply a discount to a quote so the total reflects the adjusted amount before sending it to your client.

STEP ONE

Log into your Zibster account and click QUOTES & INVOICES in the left-side menu.

This opens your Quotes & Invoicing dashboard where you can view existing quotes or create a new one.

STEP TWO

Click the NEW QUOTE button to create a new quote.

Enter your client’s information and any required details to generate the quote draft.

If you are editing an existing quote, click directly on the quote name from your dashboard.

STEP THREE

Once your quote opens, you will see the quote preview in the center of the screen.

Click the EDIT button in the upper right corner to modify line items and pricing.

The right-side editing panel will open where you can adjust the quote details.

Helpful Tip: You can preview the client-facing version of your quote at any time by clicking the gray URL located under the quote number at the top of the page.

STEP FOUR

In the right-side editing panel, click CUSTOM ITEM.

This allows you to manually add a new line item to the quote.

FINAL STEP

Enter a name for the discount, such as “Loyalty Discount” or “Promotional Credit.” You may also add a short description if needed.

In the price field, enter the discount amount as a negative number. For example, enter -50.00 to apply a $50 discount.

Click ADD ITEM to apply the discount to the quote.

The total will automatically update to reflect the reduced amount. Review the pricing to confirm accuracy, then send the quote to your client when ready.

Helpful Notes

  • Discounts must be entered as negative amounts in order to subtract from the total.

  • You can add multiple Custom Items if you need to apply more than one discount or pricing adjustment.

  • After sending the quote, you can track its status from the Quotes & Invoicing dashboard. Quote statuses include Pending, Approved, Declined, or Expired.
