How Clients Use Gift Cards During Checkout in Zibster
Overview
Zibster Gift Cards allow clients to apply a prepaid balance toward eligible purchases during checkout. Clients enter their Gift Card code on the payment screen, and Zibster automatically applies the available balance toward the order.
If the Gift Card does not cover the full purchase, the client can pay the remaining balance using one of the payment methods you have enabled. If the Gift Card has money left after the purchase, the remaining balance can be used again on a future eligible order.
This guide explains where clients can use Zibster Gift Cards, how Gift Card balances are applied during checkout, and what happens when a Gift Card covers all or part of an order.
Where Clients Can Use Gift Cards
Gift Cards can be used during the standard Zibster checkout process for eligible online purchases, including:
- Products
- Services
- Scheduler Services
Gift Cards cannot be applied to:
- Invoices
- Forms
How Gift Cards Work During Checkout
When a client reaches the payment screen for an eligible purchase, they can enter their Gift Card code and apply it to the order.
Zibster checks the available Gift Card balance and applies it toward the amount due. What happens next depends on whether the Gift Card covers the full purchase or only part of it.
When the Gift Card Covers the Full Purchase
If the Gift Card has enough available balance to cover the full order total, the client can complete the purchase using the Gift Card.
If the Gift Card balance is greater than the order total, the unused balance remains on the Gift Card and can be used toward a future eligible purchase.
Example: A client has a $100 Gift Card and places a $75 order. The Gift Card covers the full purchase, and the remaining $25 stays available for future use.
When the Gift Card Covers Part of the Purchase
If the Gift Card balance is less than the order total, Zibster applies the available Gift Card balance and displays the remaining amount due.
The client can then pay the difference using one of the additional payment methods you have enabled for checkout.
Example: A client has a $50 Gift Card and places a $75 order. The $50 Gift Card balance is applied to the purchase, and the client pays the remaining $25 using another available payment method.
Using Gift Cards With Coupons and Promotions
Gift Cards can be used on orders that also include coupons, sales, or promotional pricing.
Gift Cards are treated as a payment method, not a discount. Any eligible coupon or promotional pricing is applied to the order first. The Gift Card is then applied toward the remaining balance.
Important Gift Card Details
Keep the following in mind when clients redeem Gift Cards:
- Clients can use one Gift Card per order.
- Clients do not need a Zibster account to redeem a Gift Card.
- The client must enter the correct Gift Card code during checkout.
- Gift Cards can be reused until the available balance reaches zero.
- Gift Cards do not expire by default.
- Gift Card balances cannot be redeemed for cash.
