How to Add Header Tags to Your Zibster Website

Overview

Header tags help organize your website content for visitors and search engines. In Zibster, you can add H1, H2, and H3 tags to text inside supported Website Builder blocks and blog posts.

This guide explains what header tags are, where you can add them in Zibster, and how to use them correctly for better content structure and SEO.

What Are Header Tags?

Header tags are HTML heading labels used to organize content on a web page. They help search engines understand the structure of your page and make your content easier for visitors to scan.

The most common header tags are:

H1: The main heading or primary title of the page.

H2: A major section heading.

H3: A subsection heading under an H2.

Header tags should be used to organize your content, not only to make text larger or bold. If you only want to change how your text looks, use the font and style settings available inside the block.

Important Note About H1 Tags

For SEO best practices, each page should usually have one clear H1 heading that describes the main topic of the page.

In Zibster, the Title Block automatically applies an H1 tag to the text added inside the block. Because of this, the Title Block is usually the best option for the main heading on a website page.

If you are using a Title Block as the main page title, you usually do not need to manually apply another H1 tag on that same page.

Where You Can Add Header Tags in Zibster

You can add header tags in several areas of your Zibster account:

Title Block

Text Editor Block

Text + Image Block

Blog posts

Each option works slightly differently depending on the block or builder you are using.

Using Header Tags in the Title Block

The Title Block in the Zibster Website Builder automatically applies an H1 tag to the text added inside the block.

This makes the Title Block a strong choice for the main heading on important website pages, such as your homepage, services page, about page, or contact page.

For example, a service-based business might use a Title Block with text such as:

Family Photography Pricing

Wedding Planning Services

Custom Website Design Services

Massage Therapy in Greensboro, NC

Because the Title Block already applies the H1 tag, you do not need to manually select Heading 1 for that text.

Using Header Tags in Text Editor Blocks

The Text Editor Block supports H1, H2, and H3 tags. This allows you to structure longer page content with clear headings and subheadings.

STEP ONE

Log into your Zibster account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Open the page that contains the Text Editor Block you want to update.

STEP THREE

Click inside the Text Editor Block.

STEP FOUR

Highlight the text you want to format as a heading.

STEP FIVE

Use the formatting toolbar to choose Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3.

FINAL STEP

Save your changes.

Selecting one of these heading options applies the matching header tag to the highlighted text.

Using Header Tags in Text + Image Blocks

The Text + Image Block also supports H1, H2, and H3 tags in the text area of the block.

This is helpful when you want to create structured content while displaying an image next to or near your text.

STEP ONE

Log into your Zibster account and click WEBSITE in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Open the page that contains the Text + Image Block you want to update.

STEP THREE

Click inside the text area of the Text + Image Block.

STEP FOUR

Highlight the text you want to format as a heading.

STEP FIVE

Use the formatting toolbar to choose Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3.

FINAL STEP

Save your changes.

Using Header Tags in Blog Posts

Zibster blog posts also support header tags. This is helpful when writing longer posts with multiple sections, such as educational articles, announcements, service updates, client features, event recaps, or promotional content.

Title Blocks in the Blog Builder automatically apply H1 tags. Text Editor Blocks in blog posts allow you to apply H1, H2, or H3 tags to selected text.

STEP ONE

Log into your Zibster account and click BLOG in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Open the blog post you want to edit.

STEP THREE

Click inside the text block you want to update.

STEP FOUR

Highlight the text you want to format as a heading.

STEP FIVE

Use the formatting toolbar to choose Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3.

FINAL STEP

Save or publish your blog post.

Header Tag Best Practices

Use header tags to create a clear, logical structure for both visitors and search engines.

Recommended best practices include:

Use one main H1 heading for the primary topic of the page.

Use H2 headings for major sections of your content.

Use H3 headings for subsections under an H2.

Keep headings clear, descriptive, and relevant to the page.

Avoid using headings only to change the size or appearance of text.

Avoid skipping randomly between heading levels.

Include natural keywords when they make sense, but do not overuse them.

For example, a family photographer’s pricing page might use this structure:

H1: Family Photography Pricing

H2: Outdoor Family Sessions

H2: Studio Family Sessions

H3: What Is Included

H3: How to Book

This structure helps visitors scan the page and helps search engines understand how the content is organized.

Helpful Notes

You can customize the font type, size, style, spacing, and other design settings in the Font section of each block that supports text.

Font settings control how your text looks visually. Header tags control the structure and meaning of your content.

For example, you can apply an H2 tag to a section heading and still adjust the font size or style in the block settings to match your website design.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why does my Title Block already count as an H1?

The Title Block automatically applies an H1 tag because it is designed to be used as the main title or primary heading for a page.

Can I use more than one H1 on a page?

Zibster allows you to apply H1 formatting in supported text areas, but SEO best practice is to use one main H1 per page whenever possible. Use H2 and H3 headings to organize the rest of the page content.

Should I use header tags just to make text bigger?

No. Header tags should be used to organize your content. If you only want to change text size, font, spacing, or style, use the Font settings inside the block instead.

Do header tags help with SEO?

Header tags can support SEO by helping search engines understand the structure of your page. They are not the only factor in SEO, but they are a helpful part of creating clear, organized website content.

Which Zibster blocks support header tags?

Header tags can be used in supported text areas, including the Text Editor Block, Text + Image Block, and blog post text areas. The Title Block automatically applies an H1 tag.
