Using an Existing Domain Name with Zibster via A Records
If you already have a domain name registered with another provider, you can absolutely use it with your Zibster website! While we usually recommend pointing your domain name servers directly to Zibster, there are times when you might prefer to use A records to connect your domain instead. This guide will walk you through how to do just that.
⚠️ Important Note
Just a heads-up: This method might cause issues with PPC campaign tracking or how search engines crawl your site, depending on your DNS provider's settings. For the best performance and SEO, we suggest switching to Zibster name servers when you’re ready to go live.
STEP ONE
Log into your Zibster account and click on DOMAINS in the left-side menu.
STEP TWO
Click on the USE YOUR EXISTING DOMAIN option, click on the pink button that says "request a domain setup"
This will begin the domain setup request process for the domain you already have registered with a 3rd party domain registrar.
STEP THREE
Update Your DNS Records
Once the setup request is complete, log into your DNS host and update the following records:
Type | Host | Value | TTL |
---|---|---|---|
A | @ or blank | 18.235.135.157 | Lowest possible |
A | * | 18.235.135.157 | Lowest possible |
CNAME | www | @ | Lowest possible |
Once updated, allow up to 48 hours for propagation. After that, your Zibster website will be live!
