How to Authenticate Your Email Domain for Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and Other Services
If your domain is connected to Zibster and managed through AWS Route 53, you can update your DNS zone records directly from your Zibster account. This makes it easy to authenticate your domain and improve email deliverability when using third-party services like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Flodesk, and others.
Why Email Authentication Matters
Email authentication helps protect your domain from spoofing and ensures your emails are more likely to land in your subscribers’ inboxes. Most email platforms will ask you to add specific DNS records to verify your domain using methods such as:
- SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)
- DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance)
Your email service will provide one or more TXT or CNAME records that need to be added to your domain’s DNS settings.
Important Notes:
- This feature is only available if your name servers are pointed to Zibster’s Route 53 (AWS) system.
- If your domain is using legacy name servers at Rackspace, DNS editing will not be available in your account.

DNS Changes May Take Time
While most DNS updates take effect within a few minutes, it can take up to 48 hours for changes to fully propagate across the internet.
STEP ONE
Access Your DNS Records
- Log into your Zibster account.
- Click DOMAINS in the left-hand menu.
STEP TWO
Open the DNS Zone Editor
- Click the MANAGE DNS button next to your connected domain.
STEP THREE
Add the Authentication Records Provided by Your Email Service
- Click NEW DNS RECORD.
- Choose the record type—usually TXT or CNAME, depending on what your email provider gives you.
Common Record Types for Email Authentication:
- TXT – Used for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication
- CNAME – Sometimes used for DKIM or domain verification
⚠️ Be sure to copy and paste values exactly as provided by your email service. Typos or incorrect formatting can prevent your domain from authenticating properly.
STEP FOUR
Enter Record Details and Save
- Enter the Host/Name and Value/Points To as provided by your email platform.
- Click SAVE CHANGES to apply the update.
DELETING A CNAME RECORD
Deleted DNS records cannot be recovered and must be manually re-added if needed.
Be cautious when removing DNS records. Deleting a required record may disrupt your email or connected services.
To delete a DNS record:

Go to the DOMAINS section and click MANAGE DNS.

Locate the record you want to remove.

Click DELETE, then confirm.
Deleted records are not recoverable and must be re-added manually if needed again later.
Confirm the deletion.
