How to Add MX (Mail Exchange) Records in Zibster

If your domain is managed through Zibster and is using AWS Route 53 name servers, you can add or update MX records directly from your Zibster account.

What Are MX Records?

MX (Mail Exchange) records are part of your domain’s DNS settings. They tell email services where to deliver messages sent to your domain. You’ll need to add or update MX records if you’re setting up a branded email address through services like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, and others.

Important Notes:

  • This feature is only available if your name servers are pointed to Zibster’s Route 53 (AWS) system.

  • If your domain is using legacy name servers at Rackspace, DNS editing will not be available in your account.

STEP ONE

Access Your DNS Records

  • Log into your Zibster account.

  • Click DOMAINS in the left-hand menu.

STEP TWO

Open the DNS Zone Editor

  • Click the MANAGE DNS button next to your connected domain.

STEP THREE

Add a New DNS Record

  • Click the NEW DNS RECORD button.

STEP FOUR

Enter Your MX Record Information

  • From the record type dropdown, choose MX.

  • Enter the Priority and Mail Server values exactly as given by your email provider (e.g., 10 mail.example.com.).

⚠️ Important: Enter DNS records carefully. Incorrect settings can prevent your email from working properly. Always use instructions provided by your email host.

Add Any Additional Records

Many email services also require additional DNS records, such as:

  • A Record

  • CNAME

  • TXT Records (like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for email authentication)

Make sure you add all the records needed by your email provider for full functionality.

THAT’S IT
