How to Set Up Spam Protection in Zibster

Your Zibster Website Package includes built-in tools to help reduce spam and protect the integrity of your forms and submissions. The Spam Protection settings in your account make it easy to manage blocked domains, restricted words, and privacy options. This guide will walk you through how to access and update your spam protection settings.

STEP ONE

Log into your Zibster account and click MY ACCOUNT in the left-side menu.

STEP TWO

Access the Spam Protection Settings

  • Hover over SETTINGS at the top of the My Account page.
  • In the dropdown menu, click SPAM PROTECTION.

GOOGLE reCAPTCHA SETTINGS

At the top of the Spam Protection page, you will see your Google reCAPTCHA options.

  • If reCAPTCHA is not already enabled, we recommend turning it on. This helps automatically block bots and common spam activity.

If you need help activating reCAPTCHA, visit the guide on setting up Google reCAPTCHA in Zibster.

SPAM POLICY SETTINGS

In this section, you can manually control how spam is filtered through your forms:

Blocked Domains & Email Addresses
Block submissions from specific email addresses or entire domains.
Important: Be cautious when blocking full domains. For example, blocking gmail.com would prevent all Gmail users from submitting your forms.

Blacklisted IP Addresses
Block submissions from known spam-related IP addresses.

Restricted Words List
Block any form or comment submissions containing specific words.
Example: casino, bitcoin, lottery.
If reCAPTCHA is turned on, you may not need to add many manual restrictions unless you are experiencing repeated issues.

ADDITIONAL SPAM PROTECTION OPTIONS

You can also customize the following:

GDPR Policy Checkbox Label
Edit the text that appears next to the GDPR consent checkbox on your forms.

Backup Privacy Policy
Store a backup version of your website’s Privacy Policy for quick access.

Marketing Emails Opt-in
Enable this option if you want users to be able to opt in to receive marketing emails when submitting your forms.

Managing these settings helps reduce unwanted submissions and keeps your Zibster website secure.
