You can use an existing domain name that you've already purchased and registered with a third party. While we generally recommend updating your domain name servers to point to your Zibster account, there are certain situations where you might need to direct it to Zibster's IP address using A records. This guide will walk you through the steps to point your existing domain registration to the Zibster IP address using A records.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This domain setup method can potentially cause issues with running pay-per-click campaign tracking and how search engines crawl your website, depending on your DNS provider's settings and what sort of firewall they have in place. We recommend pointing your domain name servers to your Zibster account when you're ready to launch your website.
STEP ONE
Log into your Zibster account and click on DOMAINS in the left-side menu.
STEP TWO
Click on the USE YOUR EXISTING DOMAIN option, click on the pink button that says "request a domain setup"
This will begin the domain setup request process for the domain you already have registered with a 3rd party domain registrar.
STEP THREE
After your domain setup request is completed, log into your DNS host and update the following DNS records to point your domain name to your Zibster account:
The records are:
Type: A record
Host: Blank or @
Value: 18.235.135.157
TTL: Lowest possible
Type: A Record
Host: *
Value: 18.235.135.157
TTL: Lowest possible
Type: CNAME
Host: www
Value: @
TTL: Lowest possible
After you have updated these records, please allow up to 48 hours for propagation to complete, and your Zibster website will be live.
